The 28th of April 2014 – the ceremony of donating the equipment for DNA analysis

On the 28th of April 2014 the Nano Drop, the equipement for measuring the quantity and quality of DNA was delivered to the Polish Mother Hospital by the Association „Friends of the World” . The money to buy the equipment was collected at the charity dinner organized in December 2013, at which we were cooking with Robert Sowa, who was also taking part in the ceremony of delivering the present.

This small, seemingly inconspicuous appliance is an outstanding achievement of technology, as Prof. Lucjusz Jakubowski, the Director of the Genetic Department in the Hospital, described it.

The appliance has a digital screen, the top quality spectrophotometer, which, using the nanotechnology, can very precisely measure the quality of DNA. The automatic pipettes make it possible to measure the liquid substances very accurately.

The appliance is able to detect several thousands illnesses which are genetically caused, including the very rare ones, which happen once every 100 000 births. Thanks to
the gift from the Association „Friends of the World„ samples will not have to be sent to the other laboratories. The equipment will be working for patients from the whole country.

Our Association „Friends of the World„ has donated money for the Polish Mother Hospital for several times.Last year the equipment  worth 34.999 PLN to care about newborns was bought for The Cardiology Department run by Prof Jadwiga Moll.

Financial support from the Association „Friends of the World” given to the Polish Mother Hospital helps the kids from all over Poland. Our Association aims at helping as many kids as it is only possible and doing so as early as it only might be.

MANY THANKS FOR BEING WITH US!
